In partnership with Mintz law firm, the SI Alumni Department is excited to present the second annual Downtown Cats, a unique event for SI alumni, parents, and friends that highlights Bay Area leaders in business, technology, and finance.

SI's late president, Edward Reese, S.J., articulated a vision for the NLC in which the chapel is the heart of the new campus, a sacred space where our community will gather and pray for generations to come.

Every year, the St. Ignatius Alumni Department honors two Wildcats who have selflessly served the school and our alumni community. Last June, we were happy to name Kelly Turbin ’00 and Kathryn Gianaras ’06 as the two recipients of the 2025 Alumni of the Year Award.

Every iteration of the SI Alumni Board has great leaders and makes amazing contributions to our community and we are very excited to introduce a historic group of new members for the 2025-26 school year.

First there was Eddie. Then came Roger, followed by Ginger. They were a merry trio on campus.

Several colleagues and friends who worked with Fr. Reese over the decades eulogized him: Richard Cobb, S.J., Adria Renke, and Joe Vollert ’84.

If you have an SI class reunion this year, you have a prime opportunity to play a key role in supporting your alma mater or future Wildcats.

In May 2025, members of the SI community came together for our Loyalty Luncheon, held at the St. Francis Yacht Club, where attendees enjoyed stunning views of the San Francisco Bay. The event celebrated two groups whose ongoing support has made a lasting impact on SI: the Fr. Harry Carlin Heritage Society and Lifetime Members of the 1855 Loyalty Society.

The gift will help ensure that more middle school students have the chance to receive a tuition-free Jesuit education.

Thomas Reese, S.J. writes: "Although we both became Jesuits, Eddie and I were very different. He was an extrovert who made friends easily. I find social interaction exhausting; I would rather read a book. Ministry forced me to be more extroverted; for Eddie it came naturally."

MJ Magnano ’24 describes how Fr. Reese loved his students more than anything and always wanted to be where they were.

Five SI students were named finalists in the prestigious National Merit Scholar competition. They were among 15,000 students to achieve the honor nationwide out of about 1.3 million entrants. 

As gifts of condolences, love, and fond memories filled St. Anne of the Sunset Church to celebrate the life of Bob Drucker ’58, the SI Class of 1958 was prepared with a beautiful offering to their late friend. For more than a decade, Mike Carroll ’58 has specially ordered custom wreaths to honor classmates who have passed away.

The St. Ignatius Alumni Department is thrilled to announce that Leon Metz III ’96 has been named the recipient of the 2025 SI Black Excellence Award. This prestigious honor recognizes Leon’s outstanding contributions to the St. Ignatius community and his unwavering dedication to fostering connection and excellence among alumni.

More than 50 people, many of them alums, gathered at a Mission Bay event space last fall to socialize, connect, and learn from SI leaders about the New Learning Commons, including President Edward Reese, S.J., Principal Michelle Nevin Levine, and Vice President of Advancement Joe Vollert ’84.
