THIS IS JESUIT. THIS IS SI.
As part of the Building Our Future Forward Campaign, SI is building the New Learning Commons on the north side of campus: 165,000 square feet of flexible, sustainable space that will define Jesuit education in San Francisco for the next century.

To ensure the timely completion of the $200 million New Learning Commons project, SI issued a $140 million CA tax-exempt bond in July 2024 at an interest rate of 4.2%. This bond received an "A" rating—an exceptional accomplishment for a high school—and was oversubscribed by 10 times on the day of issuance.
Our short-term campaign is to raise $60 million--to date we have raised $51 million with $9 million to go.
This is where your support comes in.

Next Steps

The New Learning Commons is more than a building — it is a commitment to forming the whole person. Designed with collaboration, creativity, and community at its heart, the space will bring together state-of-the-art learning environments, flexible gathering spaces, and a chapel where students can pause, reflect, and grow in faith and purpose. The future of Jesuit education in San Francisco begins here.
Construction on the NLC is well underway! The exterior of the building is almost complete, and every month we see exciting new milestones as interior work progresses on the chapel, café, science labs, and rooftop terrace. We are on track to deliver a transformational 165,000 square foot facility that will serve our community for generations to come. The building is expected to be open by Summer of 2027.
The New Learning Commons will be the place where the next generation of SI students discovers who they are called to be.
